Andhra Pradesh: Man and wife threaten to kill themselves or burn MRO alive

Vijayawada: Villagers miffed with the services of the state revenue department are now coming forward with petrol bottles to threaten mandal revenue officers to get their official work done.

After Anantapur, another incident has come to light in Allagadda in Kurnool district, where an angry woman and her husband barged into the mandal revenue office carrying bottles of petrol and pesticide and threatened to burn him by alleging dereliction of duty on Wednesday.

Police present at the MRO office stopped them. The woman Ramadevi and her husband Venkata Subba Reddy hail from Battuluru village under Allagadda mandal.

The woman claimed that she had been made to run from pillar to post, every time she sought a solution towards an ongoing land dispute. They informed the cops that they either will have to kill the MRO Siva Ramudu or kill themselves by consuming the pesticide and slammed the apathy from the revenue officials.

The police then took Ramadevi and Subba Reddy into custody and told that they would escalate their grievances with the officials concerned. However, they counselled the couple and left them with a warning. No case was registered in this regard.

This is the second such case in the wake of Telangana MRO Vijaya Reddy’s brutal murder which took place a fortnight ago.

On Tuesday, a woman identified as Shivamma from Ipperu village in Anantapur had walked into the MRO office with a petrol bottle and a knife after she did not receive her pension money for several months.

She was restrained as officials assured that necessary action would be taken regarding her grievance.
