Another BJP worker shot dead in Nadia, West Bengal

In another incident of violence, a 55-year-old local BJP leader was shot dead by two miscreants in Nadia district of West Bengal.

According to police, the incident took place on Friday night when BJP leader Harla Debnath, who also ran a grocery store, exited his shop after finishing his work.  He was about to close his shop on Friday when two men arrived at his shop to buy some snacks.

BJP district president ANI said, "As soon as Debnath gave him a packet of snacks and came out, both took out a revolver and shot him. I believe the Trinamool Congress is involved in the case."

Debnath was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital by locals, though he succumbed during treatment.

Debnath's neighbor Pradeep Roy said, "Naughty people are killing people without any fear. The government is doing nothing in this regard."

A police officer said investigations are on to find out the culprits and the motive for the crime.  On Saturday, the BJP's West Bengal unit staged a protest and urged the police to register their protest against the killings of party workers in the state.  He also urged the police to take action in the case and arrest the accused persons.

The party claimed that in the last 81 days, Nadia and Murshidabad district of Bengal reported the highest number of deaths of eight members.
