Arms factory busted in Abdasa village, one held

Rajkot: A joint team of Kutch special operation group (SOG) and local crime branch (LCB) busted a arms manufacturing factory in Kotharia village of Abdasa taluka on Tuesday and arrested one person.

The accused, Sikandar Padhiyar (30), a resident of Kotharia, used to make country-made pistols, revolvers and guns at his home where he had set up a small factory.

Police teams also recovered different parts of guns like barrel, trigger, bullet chamber, butt of a gun and other items from Padhiyar’s house. They also recovered a leopard skin from the house and have informed the forest department about it.

According to police inspector K B Jadeja who conducted the raid, Sikandar already has a poaching case (2008) and one under Arms Act (2015) pending against him. He was on Tuesday booked under Arms Act.

Police further said that Padhiyar’s father was a historysheeter who has over 30 cases under Arms Act pending against him.
