Arrival of Monsoon brings Fresh Showers to Panjim

Panjim is likely to experience rainfall along with thundershowers as south west monsoons have formally arrived over the state of Goa.

The IMD’s latest city forecast expects Panjim to receive one or two spells of rain and thundershowers. This trend is likely to persist until the weekend.

Goa has received a total of 091.6mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Due to the slow progress of monsoon due to its delayed onset over Kerala and other weather anomalies, Goa has received insufficient amounts of monsoon rains since June 1, 2019. Until now the state has received on 368.6 mm of rainfall which marks a departure of -259mm.

However, frequent rainfall and wet weather conditions since the past few days across Goa have led to a dip in the temperatures. The maximum temperature yesterday touched 28.6 degree Celsius, -1°C below normal. Similarly, night-time temperatures also witnessed a slide to 23.5°C, -1°C departure from normal as well.

Despite the fall in temperatures, the conditions may still seem hot and sultry, given the relatively higher amounts of humidity, 98%, in the region.
