Assam HSLC result 2019: Lakhimpur girl tops Class X boards

GUWAHATI: Kangkan Kalita: Guwahati: Boys outshone girls in the Assam High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam, results of which was declared on Wednesday.


Total 3.36 lakh Class X board examinees appeared in the HSLC exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (Seba) in February-March.



While the overall pass percentage improved from 56.04 percent recorded last year to 60.23 percent in 2019, the pass percentage of the boys stood at 62.69 percent and the pass percentage of the girls were recorded to be 57.99 percent.

Flood ravaged Dhemaji district of upper Assam recorded highest 83.28 pass percentage.

Out of the 2.02 lakh successful candidates, 48,599 secured first division in the exam. Total 71,020 candidates passed with second division, whereas 82,889 candidates passed the exam with third division.

Meghashree Borah from Sankardev Shishu Bidya Niketan, Narayanpur in upper Assam's Lakhimpur district has become the state topper by scoring 594 out of 600 marks.

The second rank was jointly shared by Chinmoy Hazarika of Don Bosco High School, Baghchung of Jorhat district and Pratyasha Medhi, a student from St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Guwahati. Both scored 593 marks.
