ATS interrogates 6 accused of keeping illegal weapons in Bijnor madrasa

BIJNOR: Six accused, who were detained after illegal weapons were recovered from a madrasa in Sherkot, were interrogated by the Anti-Terrorism Squad.


Yesterday, six people were arrested after illegal weapons were recovered from the madrasa in Sherkot in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district, police had said.





Following a tip-off, a raid was carried out at madrasa Darul Quran Hamidia on Kandhla road in Sherkot area yesterday afternoon.

Three countrymade pistols, a 32 bore pistol and bullets in large numbers were recovered from the madrasa, police said.

One of the accused belongs to Bihar and claimed that he was a teacher at the madrasa.



"We received information that some anti-social elements visit this madrasa. We searched the premises and recovered five pistols and several cartridges. Six people have been arrested," circle officer K Kanojia had said.
