Awareness programme on BBBP organised at Udhampur

To sensitize and create awareness among common masses, Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in collaboration with Transport Department Udhampur today organised an awareness programme on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.A large number of commercial vehicle owners, Drivers, youth and Officers and Officials attended the camp.Addressing the gathering, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar said that the main objective of organizing this programme is to create awareness among the common masses about the scheme Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao which launched during 2015-16 by Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt.

of India for empowerment of girl child,  check female feticide  and other gender discrimination towards female children.Reflecting on the education of the girl child, he said that education provides the skills for Girls to become responsible citizens and help them to get their voice heard in the society. He added said that such awareness programmes would help in ensuring empowerment of women through education and equal participation in all the working fields.
He also revealed that catchy logo on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao has been developed by District Administration Udhampur with (Toll Free) Mobile No. 94697-93363 for the general public for registering complaints about violation of PC&PNDT Act 1994. He said the District Administration has kept a provision to award the whistle blowers.He also highlighted the various provisions of the PC&PNDT Act preventing gender biased sex selective elimination of girl child. He further said that Government of India launched various schemes for empowerment and welfare of women and called upon the people to motivate them to come forward for availing the benefits of the various schemes.ARTO Udhampur Rachana Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted importance of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme and the welfare schemes for girl child.
She laid stress on the education of the girls and asked the common masses to educate their girls.On the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar along with ARTO also pasted stickers on different commercial, Pvt. & Govt. vehicles and distributed pamphlets among the people for their general awareness.Among others, CDPO, Yash Paul Sharma and other officers/officials of concerned departments besides large number of prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
