Ayodhya: Bajrang Dal activists wave air guns at stir

AYODHYA: Bajrang Dal activists waved sticks and air guns in Ayodhya on Sunday evening during a demonstration in which they burned the effigy of PDP leader and former chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti . The incident sparked a row as the model code of conduct is still in force.

About two dozen activists came out from VHP’s headquarters Karsewakpuram armed with air guns and wooden sticks and held a demonstration at Ram Ghat, adjacent to Karsewakpuram.

A training session for activists in arms use and combat skills is going on at Karsewakpuram in Ayodhya from May 15 to 22. Co-convenor of Bajrang Dal, Mahesh Tiwari said, “The Shaurya Prashikshan Varg (Gallantry Training Session) of Bajrang Dal organised every year is going on. The effigy of Mehbooba Mufti was burned over her statement that if on article 370 and 35A were disturbed, then Kashmir would have to rethink its relations with India.”

Faizabad SSP Joginder Kumar said, “We are issuing a notice to Bajrang Dal, seeking clarification over the demonstration and carrying air guns.”
