Baby girl found abandoned on Tiruvannamalai collectorate premises

TIRUVANNAMALAI: A newborn baby girl was found abandoned in an unused toilet on the Tiruvannamalai district collector premises. District child protection officials rescued the baby and admitted her to Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College and Hospital.

Construction workers heard the cry of a baby from inside the unused toilet.

They entered the toilet and found the baby wrapped in a cloth.

The workers alerted the Tiruvannamalai East police and district social welfare department officials.

District child protection officer B Gokila said the baby was one day old and weighed three kilograms.

Officials were making arrangements to hand her over to a private child adoption agency.
