Bangalore Development Authority is not a government company, says Karnataka HC

BENGALURU: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is a local authority and not a government company under the BDA act , the Karnataka high court has said.

In a recent judgement,the court has also said that under the BDA act, there is no such definition available.
Dismissing the petition filed by IL & FS Engineering company for winding up of BDA , Justice P B Bajanthri also imposed a cost of Rs 50,000 upon the petitioner, payable to Chief Minister's relief fund.

The petitioner had moved the court for recovery of Rs 5.07 crore dues in relation to execution of Magadi Road-Mysore Road ring road project.The contention put forward was that BDA is a government company.

However, rejecting the said contention,the judge has observed that the petitioner has other remedies available at its disposal.
