Bareilly: Meet 16-year-old wizkid who made special watch for elderly

BAREILLY: A 16-year-old student of a private school has developed a ‘digital alarming security watch’ for elderlies that will send alert messages to their family members whenever they are in need of help.

Parv Kapoor developed this wrist watch thinking of his grandfather, who remains alone at home when his parents go for work.

The alert message is sent by pressing a button on the watch, following which the family members will receive a message ‘need help’, along with the location on their smart phone.

Parv, a resident of North City colony, told TOI, “A large number of elderlies stay alone at home and their family members are often concerned about them. If any elderly has hurt himself in the market or any other untoward incident happened with them, they can press the button on their watch and it will notify the smartphone of the family members.”

He added, “It took me over eight months to develop this watch. Initially, I developed the watch which could alert family members within a radius of 100 metres only . However, it can now send alert to smart phone of family members anywhere in the world.”

Parv participated in Inspire Awards Manak in February this year when he was in class X.

Apart from watch, Parv had also developed automatic water filling machine, smart stick for visually impaired persons and a drone camera in the past. “I have been making machines since I was in class VII. I want to do business by commercialising the gadgets I made,” said Parv whose inspiration is former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
