Bareilly: Neighbour rapes minor returning home from the movies; arrested

Bareilly: An appalling incident surfaced from the Lakhimpur Kheri district. The incident came to light after the body of a minor was found at her neighbour's residence. The accused allegedly raped and murdered the victim. The incident took place in the Mahewa Ganj area. 

The accused was identified as Rudal.

The deceased had allegedly gone to watch a movie and was being accompanied by her family. However, she started feeling drowsy and decided to return. 

Though the eight-year-old had set out to go home, she did not reach there. The victim was found at the residence of the accused the next morning. Following this, the locals beat up the accused and handed him over to the police. 

While talking to the Times of India, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kheri, Fateh Singh stated that they arrested the accused. The accused was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The body of the victim was sent for a post-mortem. It was also added that the accused confessed to committing the crime. 

In another incident, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Kashmir. The accused was identified as 27-year-old Tahir Ahmed Mir. The incident took place in Trehgam Sumbal village. The Jammu and Kashmir police formed a Special Investigation Team (STI) to investigate the case. 

However, as the protests in the valley turned violent, the administration decided to strengthen the security of the area. Around 47 security personnel lost their lives while trying to control the angered locals. The schools and colleges of the valley were also shut as a precautionary decision.
