Bathinda AIIMS: 1st batch's 40 start at Faridkot medical college

Bathinda: Classes for the first batch of the MBBS course of the All India Institute of Medical Science ( AIIMS ), Bathinda started on Monday. Forty students have been admitted to the course for which 14 faculty members will be engaged.

The classes began at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot, which is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Science (BFUHS).

The classes will be held here temporarily until AIIMS Bathinda campus gets built.

On Monday, two students had reached Faridkot after clearing the counselling while the names of 38 students for the first batch are already listed. Authorities at BFUHS claimed that the final counselling was held in Delhi on Monday and remaining 10 seats would be filled soon. Besides the faculty members, the BFUHS vice-chancellor, Dr Raj Bahadur also interacted with the new students besides wishing them luck. The foundation stone was laid by PM Narendra Modi on November 25, 2016. Spread over 177 acres, the institute is being set up with an investment of Rs 950 crore. The Bathinda district administration claimed that the three-storey building was already complete.
