Bengaluru: Police book case against Gauribidanur MLA

Chikkaballapura: The special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru has ordered the Chikkaballapura DySP to investigate allegations that Gauribidanur Congress legislator NH Shivashankara Reddy had threatened to chop off disqualified Chikkaballapura MLA K Sudhakar’s hands.

Police say Ravichandra Kumar, a resident of Chikkaballapura, filed a private complaint with the special court on October 25, seeking initiation of criminal proceedings against Shivashankara Reddy for his remarks against Sudhakar.

Kumar alleged Reddy, while speaking at two separate meetings on October 13 and 19, had said that he would chop off the hands of Sudhakar if he tried to include certain hoblis of Gowribidanur taluk in the new Manchenahalli taluk.

Police have booked a case against Reddy under IPC sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), 124 (assaulting elected representatives) and 141 (unlawful assembly).

Reddy has been opposing any move to include Thondebavi hobli into the proposed Manchenahalli taluk.
