Bhopal: Class X student kills self on day of maths exam

BHOPAL: A 15-year old student of class X hanged herself to death just hours before her mathematics examination in Anuppur district .

The body of Prachi Soni was found hanging at her house by her family around 5am on Tuesday. The incident took place at Sakola village under Chachai police station of the district.

Speaking to TOI, sub-inspector PN Prajapati said, “She was a student of Saraswati Vidyalaya and her board examination centre was at government school at Patna village. Her parents found her hanging in her room on Tuesday, the day of her maths exam,”

SI Prajapati added that her parents informed police that she was good in her studies.

“On Monday night she went to bed as usual at around 11:30pm after talking to someone on the phone. Later around 5am on Tuesday her father saw her hanging using a sari of her mother,” Prajapati said.

He added that the house has only one room, where the entire family slept; but no one heard her while she hanged herself, Prajapati said citing the statements of the kin.

“As of now the reasons that triggered the suicide are not clear. No suicide note has been found. We have seized her mobile phone and it is being sent to cyber cell for further investigations. Investigations are still on and things will be clear once the investigations are over,” SI Prajapati said.
