Bhopal Fake Bride 'Looteri' Gang Nabbed By Cops, 8 People Arrested

A notorious gang in Bhopal that swindled people by providing fake brides has been taken into custody.8 people belonging to this vicious gang have been placed under arrest.This was based on a complaint received by the Bhopal Crime Branch, as per a report in Aaj Tak.

The gang operated by getting girls married by charging money.

After some time once the cash was in hand, they would return from the in laws and then be married to someone else to scam. The arrests were made on August 7.

The Bhopal Crime Branch got a complaint that a gang of extortionate brides who got married and got money through fake documents and names are active. A man named Kanta Prasad had lodged a complaint.

He said that he was looking to get married and a person named Dinesh Pandey had introduced his family to Pooja also known as Riya. When Kanta said he liked her, Dinesh demanded R 85,000. Then after the marriage, Pooja left on the pretext of a family emergency. When she did not return, Kanta called Dinesh, who told him Pooja was married elsewhere. This happened in the village of Kala Peepal Mandi.

The crime branch started get similar complaints from the villages of Hoshangabad, Rajgarh and Shajapur districts. The stories were all the same.

The police carefully laid a trap via an informer and it worked. Dinesh Pandey, Tejulal, Vikram, Seema Khan, Sultana along with 3 hours were nabbed. Dinesh was revealed to be the mastermind. Pooja's real name is Tina Dhakad and she is from Mandideep which is not far from Bhopal.

Her other aliases apart from Riya are Pinki and Maya. The women members of the gang whose job it was to entrap men got Rs 30,000 for every wedding.
