Bhopal: Man offers lift to four in his car, robbed

BHOPAL: A project head of a construction firm was abducted, beaten up, robbed and left tied with a tree on Indore highway by four persons whom he offered lift at Koh-e-Fiza on Friday night. The accused not just drove away their car but also took away his two gold rings, two mobile phones and wallet.


The victim managed to free himself, took lift in a truck to reach Indore from where he contacted Bhopal police on Saturday and got a case registered.



Koh-e-Fiza police have registered a loot case and said that identities of the accused have been ascertained with the help of CCTV footages and the registration number of the vehicle in which one of the four accused came. Dewas and Indore police too helped ascertain their identity, police said.

Police said that the victim Rajneesh Tiwari, 32, a resident of Kolar, works in a construction firm in Indore and was heading towards Indore on Friday evening when one of the four accused sought lift in his car till Indore.

Initially, Tiwari denied and asked him to take a bus instead. However, when the accused said that there was no seat available in any of the buses to Indore, Tiwari agreed. After the car moved for few meters, the person told Tiwari that two of his friends are with him and requested Tiwari to give lift to them as well. One among them told Tiwari that his wife is pregnant, and he needs to reach Indore at the earliest.

As Tiwari's journey with the three men started, and they reached Fanda toll road, one of them told Tiwari that he was not feeling well and asked him to stop the car as he wanted to vomit. As soon as Tiwari stopped the car, an accomplice of accused came in another car and they bundled him in that car and moved. One of the accused drove Tiwari's car.

After almost seven hours, the accused tied Tiwari to a tree near Sanwer and fled from the spot in their car. They also took Tiwari's car with them.

Police said it was not gun, but a gun shaped cigarette lighter. Tiwari's car was located by police near Dewas on Sunday, police said, adding that matter remains under investigation.
