Bihar: Angry migrant workers vandalise railway station

BHAGALPUR: Passengers, mostly migrant workers commuting from Anand Vihar Terminal in New Delhi to Purnia by a Shramik Special train , vandalised the railway station at Kharik in Naugachia sub-division on Sunday night. Railway personnel had to flee the station to save themselves amid the ruckus.

Officials said the migrant workers got agitated when the train made unscheduled stoppages at Narayanpur for nearly 35 minutes and then at Kharik for nearly one-and-a-half hours due to non-clearance of the track.

“The enraged passengers damaged railway property at the station. A case is being lodged with the GRP against them,” Naugachia railway station superintendent N K Tiwary said. GRP SHO Md Moazzim said two other special trains were also moving in the same railway section.
