Bihar: Country's first 'kisan' special parcel train flagged off by railway minister reaches Danapur station

PATNA: The first ‘ Kisan Special Parcel Train ’, which was flagged off by railway minister Piyush Goyal and Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday, reached Danapur station on Saturday.


ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar said the train will leave every Friday from Devlali in Maharashtra at 11am and reach Danapur the next day at 2.45pm.

“On its return journey, the train will leave Danapur every Sunday at 12am and reach Devlali the next day at 7.45pm,” he said.

The CPRO said the special train has stoppages at Manmad, Jalgaon, Bhusawal, Burhanpur, Khandawa, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Satna, Manikpur, Prayagraj, Cheoki, Pt Deendayal Upadhaya Junction and Buxar.

“The train has been introduced to facilitate farmers transport their perishable agricultural produces like vegetables, fruits, flowers, fish, meat, milk and other agro products,” the CPRO said.

“Railways will charge Rs 4,001 per tonne from Nasik Road to Danapur, Rs 3,849 from Manmad to Danapur, Rs 3,513 from Jalgoan to Danapur, Rs 3,459 from Bhusawal to Danapur, Rs 3,323 from Burhanpur to Danapur and Rs 3,148 from Khandawa to Danapur,” the CPRO said.

He added railways has introduced its first-ever multi commodity parcel cargo express train which has the facility to store and carry other fruits like pomegranate , banana, grapes as well as capsicum, cauliflower , drumsticks, cabbage, onion and chillies.

“The facility is likely to open a floodgate of opportunities for the farmers of Bihar in particular to double their income by way of marketing their agricultural produces outside the state at better price,” he said.
