Bihar government employees, pensioners to get 3% DA hike from January 1

PATNA: The state government has hiked the dearness allowance (DA) of its employees, pensioners and family pension holders from 9% to 12%. The hike will be effective from January 1 this year.

Briefing mediapersons after the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday, cabinet secretariat department’s principal secretary Sanjay Kumar said the 3% hike in DA will lead to an additional annual financial burden of Rs 1,100.94 crore on the state exchequer.




The cabinet approved total 49 proposals, including creation of teaching and non-teaching posts for newly created government engineering and polytechnic colleges in Arwal, Bhojpur, Jehanabad , Munger, Madhubani and Lakhisarai, among others.

In another decision, the cabinet approved proposals from the industries department for creation of three registered societies — Rangrez Artisan Development Society, Dhuniya Arisan Development Society and Tailor Artisan Development Society. “Till now, these three categories were combined. Now the government can focus on their development separately,” Sanjay said.

The cabinet cleared the Bihar Engineering Services Class-II Appointment Rules, 2019. It would pave way for the appointment of assistant engineers in all departments through Bihar Public Service Commission, which would conduct examination of objective-type questions.

The Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation has been allowed to give government guarantee for taking loans to the tune of Rs500 crore from UCO Bank and Punjab National Bank for procurement of wheat produced in Rabi (winter) season.

The cabinet approved the abolition of the post of deputy director general in the office of Lokayukta Bihar and creating a post of police DIG having the same pay scale. The government waived off the extra fees for registration of paternal property in other than the location of the property.

In another decision, the cabinet gave administrative approval to Bihar Municipal Solid Waste Management Model Bylaws, 2019. It also approved a proposal for creation of a post of taxation expert on contract for effective revenue collection as per Bihar Goods and services Tax Rules, 2017. It also approved a proposal for sanctioning funds to the tune of Rs 40 crore for development of a new building of commercial taxes department at Gardiner Road, Patna.
