Bihar: Murder convicts to spend three years in juvenile home

Biharsharif: Nalanda Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) principal judge Manvendra Mishra on Tuesday awarded three-year term to two murder convicts. Their time period already spent in the correction home will, however, be deducted.

One of the convicts, who was out on bail, was taken into custody and sent to correction home soon after the punishment was pronounced in the designated court.

The other convict is already lodged in Nalanda correction home for boys.

Additional public prosecutor (APP) Rajesh Kumar Pathak said the convicts, who belong to an area under Biharsharif Town police station, had brutally killed another juvenile of their locality for refusing to hand over the key of his two-wheeler in June 2018.

He said the deceased had gone to Shram Kalyan ground with his cousin on June 21, 2018 when a boy demanded key of his two-wheeler. When he refused, one of the convicts hit him on the face with an iron gloves he was wearing while his friend pierced an iron rod into his throat. When his cousin and other boys playing there took the juvenile to the nearby Sadar hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead.

The court also directed the superintendent of juvenile correction home to ensure that they receive proper education and training under skill development programme. He was directed to ensure their periodical psychological test and present report in the court after every four months. The authorities were directed to prepare and submit the report on the juvenile convicts.
