Bikaner hottest at 40.6 degrees Celsius in state

JAIPUR: After a prolonged spell of dust storm, rainfall and hailstorm, mercury took an upward swing across the state on Sunday. An average rise of almost 3 degrees Celsius in the day temperature was reported across the state. Bikaner remained hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius, the Met reports said.




Attributing the climatic change to active northern winds, Jaipur Met office said that similar conditions will prevail in the state except for northern Rajasthan where dust storm and rainfall will take place in the next 24 hours .

Jaipurites woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius was recorded. It was followed by an afternoon with a maximum temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius. Cloudy conditions prevailed in the evening and the weather was humid in the city. In this season so far the maximum temperature in the city was colder compared to the previous years. In Jaipur the average of the maximum temperatures recorded in May is 42.5, however in this year so far this has been 39.5 degrees Celsius.

Except a few places, the weather is going to be dry in the state when maximum temperatures will further increase. In May the maximum temperatures in places like Churu, Sriganganagar and Bikaner touch 45 degrees Celsius, but this year so far this has been on or below 42 degrees Celsius. Bikaner was followed by Sriganganagar where a maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius was recorded, Kota 40.3, Jaisalmer 40.1, Churu 40, Barmer 39.8, Ajmer 39.5, Jodhpur 39.1 and in Udaipur a maximum temperature of 37.8 degrees Celsius was recorded. As per the forecast, dust storm, thunderstorm and rainfall will take place at few places in the state. The weather is going to be dry in the rest of the state.
