BJP Ajmer vice president accused of molesting minor

Ajmer: Former deputy mayor and BJP city vice-president Som Ratan Arya has been accused of molesting a minor girl. The police have registered a case against him under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. After the FIR, Arya has been missing from his house and his mobile phone is switched off.

The incident has triggered outrage in the city, as Arya is member of many organizations including Badminton association and is related to social organizations too. BJP Ajmer city president Shiv Shanker Heda accepted Arya’s resignation and said that the process of law will take its course.

According to police, parents of the minor girl registered the case against Arya accusing him of molesting the minor when she was alone. The girl ran away from the spot and later told everything to her mother.

The parents initially dithered in filing the complaint as the accused is a high-profile person but later, with the help of some social activists, they lodged the case. Police took the girl before a magistrate court where her statement was recorded. Police went to the crime spot and prepared the map of the place to verify with the statement of the complainant.

Police said that the accused is absconding from his house, which is locked and his cellphone is switched off. Police added that they are looking for the accused.
