Blessy says no intimate scenes with goat were filmed for 'Aadujeevitham', reveals what the censor removed was something else

Filmmaker Blessy has dismissed rumors that claimed that the intimate scenes between Najeeb and the goat were filmed in ‘ Aadujeevitham ’, as depicted in the novel. In a recent interview with Manorama News, Blessy confirmed that no such scenes were filmed, and the censor removed something else.

Blessy stated that while making ‘Aadujeevitham’, he aimed to present his version of the novel.
He also stressed that he made a film out of a 43-page novel, so everything doesn't need to be made into the film. Moreover, the film is his perception of Najeeb.

“I have tried to convert the 43-page novel into a screenplay. If 43 pages are to be made into a visual story, it would require about 10 films to do it. Because it's so detailed. That's not what I am supposed to do. When you look at films across the globe that are adapted from literary works, Akira Kurusova , who made ‘Throne of Blood' out of Macbeth, has made a version of its summary. That's the only responsibility of the scriptwriter. I have said from the beginning that this is my version,” Blessy said.

The director also emphasized that one could film many things in the film that one cannot find in the novel. He shared that the spiritual connection Najeeb had with the goats and the bond he shares with his wife, home, and hometown are depicted differently in the novel compared to the novel.

Blessy confirmed that no intimate scenes involving the goat were filmed, as his Najeeb is different. “There were strong discussions about filming these sequences. But I have been clear about the fact that my Najeeb cannot do such a thing.”

He further clarified, “I haven’t filmed such a scene or submitted it to the censor board, as some rumors claim.”

Blessy further revealed that the censor board asked to remove a voice note in which a particular brand name of cigarette is mentioned, and it was dubbed a ‘foreign cigarette’.

Blessy’s latest release, ‘Aadujeevitham’, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran , has become the talk of the town ever since its release.
