Brahmastra: Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt to fly to Manali next month for 15-day schedule of Ayan Mukerji film

Dharma Productions’ big-budget venture, Brahmastra, has been making headlines ever since its announcement two years ago. The supernatural romantic drama, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, has been shot in breaks so far at various locations across the world. The last schedule of the Ayan Mukerji directorial was shot in Varanasi and according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the next one will take place in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

The tabloid claims that Ranbir and Alia will fly to Manali next month for a 15-day shooting schedule amid the hills. This portion of the film will showcase an important part of Shiva’s (Ranbir) life. The report says that it is at this juncture that Shiva discovers his origin and his journey of self-discovery begins.

A source has been quoted in the report, saying, “Ranbir, Alia and the entire cast will fly to Manali in November for a 15-day shoot. Every location carries Shiva’s (RK’s character) story forward. Manali, too, plays an important role in the screenplay. All the locations in India that feature in the story reference the central characters. During the Manali schedule, the story of Shiva’s origin and self-discovery will be traced.”

Brahmastra, featuring Alia in the role of Ranbir’s love interest, will also star Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni in significant roles, among others. The film was initially scheduled to hit the screens on Independence Day 2019  but due to pending VFX work, it was postponed to Christmas 2020. It was pushed back once again to Summer 2020 a couple of months ago. The definitive release date of the film is yet to be declared.

Brahmastra marks the first-time collaboration between Ranbir and Alia. It is Ranbir and Ayan’s third film together after Wake Up Sid (2009) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013).
