Building collapses In Himachal Pradesh, three killed

Shimla: A multi-story building collapsed on Sunday amid heavy rains in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Three people were killed in the incident while about a dozen people are still trapped.Solan District Magistrate K C Chaman told reporters that rescue and relief operations are on. The accident happened on the National Highway connecting Nahan .

District Magistrate Chaman said, "The building was three storeys. People trapped in the rubble were sitting in the restaurant of the building. More than 30 people were trapped under the rubble. 26 of them have been evacuated. Some people have suffered minor injuries. They have been admitted to the hospital." District Magistrate Chaman said that 17 of the rescued soldiers were from the rubble. All these people stayed at the restaurant for dinner. Only then did the building collapse.

He also said that most of the 12 people trapped under the rubble are army personnel. NDRF, Army and local administration teams are engaged in rescue and relief operations. According to officials, 30 to 35 people are feared trapped under the debris of the building. The rain-hit building is located on the National Highway connecting Nahan. Earlier, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Chandel had told local media that rescue work was being carried out at a fast pace. Officials said all the people trapped under the debris were in the restaurant built in the building.
