Cattle carcasses found floating in Murshidabad water bodies , was to be declared cleanest district

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will declare Murshidabad as 'Nirmal District' under the 'Nirmal Bangla' project.

Prior to this, the authorities have got upset after seeing reports of pollution in the Ganges.  You will also be surprised to know that in the district where preparations are being made to declare it clean, dead bodies of dead cows were found floating in the river considered sacred.

Rotten carcasses of about 50 to 60 dead cattle are dumped into the Ganges every day.  After the reports surfaced, the district administration has decided that they will arrange these bodies before being announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Zilla Parishad chairman Musharraf Hussain said, "We have asked the panchayat to bury the dead bodies of dead animals."  Professor Ranjan Bhattacharya of Murshidabad Medical College said, "It is very dangerous for Ganga because people also take bath in it."

After capturing the cattle, BSF sends them to the local panchayats.  The cattle are then auctioned under legal process.  50 to 60 cows reportedly die daily due to lack of care.  The shocking thing in all of this is that 100 rupees per day is given for the care of cattle.  Despite this, cattle die.  It is alleged that corruption is prevalent throughout the process.
