Centre approved regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the central government has given approval to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi, and the residents will be given ownership rights of their land.

Addressing the mediapersons, Kejriwal said, The Centre has responded positively to Delhis proposal to regularise unauthorised colonies.

I have directed the Revenue department to prepare for smooth registry and transfer of ownership rights in unauthorised colonies.

There is a good news for those who live in unauthorised colonies of Delhi. Their dream of living in a permanent house will now be completed. Before elections there were promises made to them and those promises were then forgotten by other parties. This time when our government was formed we had decided that we would get those living in these colonies their right, the Chief Minister said.

Kejriwal said the Delhi cabinet had approved a proposal and sent it to the Centre in November 2015.

He said the Delhi government will soon begin the registrations in 1797 unauthorised colonies.

On Wednesday evening we got a positive response on our proposal from the central government. They are ready to make them permanent. I first want to thank the central government from our side. The central government has asked some questions which will be cleared, he said.

The people living in these colonies have seen no development. Since 2015, an unprecedented Rs 6000 crore has been spent on roads, pipelines etc, he added.
