Chandigarh: Bail denied to F Bar firing accused

CHANDIGARH: A local court on Wednesday denied bail to Arjun Thakur, the son of a UT police head constable posted at the Sector 3 police station and one of the accused in the F Bar firing case last year.


Four persons were injured when shots were fired during the birthday party of Sahdev Salaria, political adviser to MP Kirron Kher, at the eatery in Sector 26 on November 20 last year.



Chetan Munjal of Sector 24, Rinku of Dadumajra, Rajesh Paswan of Sector 56, Rimmy alias Rohit Bhardwaj of Bapu Dham Colony and Arjun Thakur of Sector 51 were booked by the police.

Municipal corporation (MC) mayor Davesh Moudgil and local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were present in the birthday party of Sahdev Salaria. However, Moudgil and Salaria claimed they had left the venue when violence broke out among two groups around 12.30am.

Police stated that the two parties — all supporters of BJP — entered into heated arguments over some political issue. Within seconds, Munjal and Rinku pulled out their pistols and fired three rounds. They and Thakur assaulted the second group members with blunt weapons.

The injured were Jaideep Singh and Deepak Kundu, both residents of Sector 46, Yogeshwar and Pankaj Chibber, both residents of Mohali . Jaideep and Yogeshwar received bullet injuries.
