Cheer up tourists: Fly to Delhi & Mumbai from Jaisalmer this October

Jaisalmer: The deputy director of the Airports Authority of India at Jaisalmer, BS Meena, has said that the desert city will get connected to Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru by from October 28. SpiceJet has announced to start direct flight services from Jaisalmer to these three cities from this winter season.

Meena said the Zoom Air (another airline company) has proposed to start flight services to Agra, Delhi and Bikaner from Jaisalmer and soon its schedule will be issued. The proposal of Zoom Air has been sent to the higher authorities.

There are already flight services from Jaisalmer to Jaipur and Ahmedabad. Schedule has been announced for new air services by SpiceJet and booking has also begun. Now Jaisalmer will have easy connectivity with other cities. This will also help to boost tourism.

Meena said SpiceJet’s Jaisalmer to Bengaluru flight SG535 will reach Jaisalmer at 2.50pm and SG536 will return to Bangalore at 3.50pm. Similarly, SG122 will come to Jaisalmer from Delhi at 11.50am and SG103 will go to Delhi at 12.20pm, while SG6435 will come to Jaisalmer from Mumbai at 1pm and SG6436 will depart for Mumbai at 1.30pm. He added that the three flights will operate daily. Similarly, SpiceJet’s flight to Ahmedabad and Jaipur will continue. Businessmen Mayank Kumar and Giril Kumar told TOI that a large number of Gujarati tourists come to Jaisalmer, especially during Diwali. These flights will give tourism a big boost. Apart from this, army, Air Force and BSF jawans who live in southern part will also have better connectivity when they go on leave.

Film units from Mumbai will also find it easier to come here for shooting. The locals feel that Jaisalmer will also become a new wedding destination. Many businessmen, industrialists and politicians look for new wedding destinations and with better flight connectivity Jaisalmer will be on top of their list.
