Chennai man murdered over illicit affair

CHENNAI: A 31-year-old man was hacked to death at Kolathur here on Monday night over his illicit affair with a woman. B Ansar Basha of Chitlapakkam was hacked to death by the woman’s son and two others, police said.

Basha separated from his wife, Parveen, three years ago. The couple had two children aged 8 and 7 years, police said.

Basha developed a relationship with a woman in Vinayakapuram. The woman’s elder son opposed this, and there were often quarrels between him and Basha.

In 2017, Basha was arrested by the Puzhal police for cutting off the left ear of the woman’s son.

On Monday, Basha was talking to the woman and his mother near Red Hills Road-School Road junction around 11pm. A three-member gang, suspected to be comprising the woman’s son and his friends, reached the spot with machetes and brutally hacked Basha in front of his mother. With severe injuries on the back of his head and face, Basha died on the spot.

The Rajamangalam police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects.
