Chennai: Police seize 12kg ganja from three different gangs

CHENNAI: Police have arrested 12 ganja peddlers in three places. As much as 16kg of ganja, autorickshaws and two-wheelers were seized from the offenders.


The Kodungaiyur police nabbed two different gangs selling ganja on Friday night. V Mohanbabu, 38, of Red Hills, K Rajesh, 29, of Otteri and V Balaji, 40, were secured by one team at Mullai Nagar Bridge junction.

A two-wheeler and 4kg ganja were also were seized from them. The second team arrested A Gopi, 42, A Samuel, 38, M Sirajudeen, 28, and H Narendran, 35, of Otteri with four kg ganja at Moolakadai junction. An autorickshaw and a two-wheeler were also seized from them. All seven accused have been remanded in judicial custody. Six mobile phones were seized from them.

Meanwhile, SastriNagar policeseized 3kg ganja,Rs 6,000 in cash and an autorickshaw from three men. The accused was identified as 19-year-olds A Vijay of Semmanchery, K Vasanthakumar of Semmanchery, M Praveen Kumar , of Pulianthope and E Selvakumuar, 27, of Pulianthope. They were remanded in judicial custody on Friday.
