Chhattisgarh: 324 new infections take Covid tally to 11,743

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh reported 324 fresh Covid cases on Saturday. Maoist-affected Bastar region reported its first Covid death of a 25-year-old youth from Lohandiguda. Meanwhile, a death linked to comorbidity was reported from Raipur. The state’s tally has jumped to 11,743 with 3,072 active cases.

Of these fresh 324 covid cases, 109 are from Raipur, 58 from Rajnandgaon, 19 from Raigarh, 18 each from Baloda Bazar and Sukma, 17 from Durg, 15 from Kabirdham, 14 from Bastar, 9 from Bilaspur, 7 each from Kanker and Gariyabandh , 5 from Narayanpur, 4 each from Jashpur and Bijapur and 2 each from Dantewada , Balrampur, Koriya, Janjgir-Champa , Korba, Dhamtari, Bemetara and Balod and 1 each from Mungeli, Sarguja, Surajpur.



Explaining the Covid death in Bastar, Jagdalpur Medical College doctor Naveen Dulhani said, “The youth’s hospitalization was delayed, he was suffering from high-grade fever and respiratory issues when he was admitted on Friday night. He died on Saturday morning. The youth had neither any travel history nor reported to have come in contact of Covid-infected patient.”

In another development, after getting discharged from Mana-based Covid care centre in Raipur, two youths have came forward to donate their plasma following their recoveries.

The youths agreed to share their experience and gave their consent to disclose their identities as Yadumani Sidar , police inspector posted at Raipur’s Maudhapara police station and other person is Raipur-based professional Vikrant Pandey, who was discharged on Thursday.

Sharing his experience Sidar said, “Though it is an unpleasant feeling to get admitted in a hospital, but the medical staff gave their best in treating and counselling us during our quarantine period. We salute the health care workers for wearing exhausting PPE kits for long hours just to take care of patients.”
