Chhattisgarh: Encounter between Security forces and Naxalites clash in Bijapur, two soldiers martyred

Raipur: Two CRPF personnel were killed in an encounter between Naxalites and security forces in Keshkutul area of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The encounter between the security forces and the Naxalites is still going on where the exchange of fire is going on. The incident took place in Keshkutul area of Bijapur where the Naxalites, who were ambushed, suddenly opened fire on the security forces.

It may be mentioned that the 27th battalion of CRPF, ITBP, demolished a Naxalite hideout in Rajnandgaon district during a search operation in the wee hours of Friday in addition to Bijapur. After this brief encounter, the joint teams of ITBP and Chhattisgarh Police destroyed the Naxalite hideout in Kohkatoli forest in the district at 4:00 a.m. local time. During the operation, the Naxalites fled through the jungle after witnessing heavy falls on the security forces.

After conducting a search of the area, ITBP recovered a 303 rifle, 12 bore 2 rifles, a loaded rifle, an air gun and other routine items like wireless sets. Earlier in Bijapur, naxalites had stabbed and killed an Assistant Constable and also abducted Santosh Punem, a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, which had created a tense atmosphere in the region.
