Chhattisgarh: Maoists abduct and kill Bijapur villager

RAIPUR: Maoists on Monday night have abducted and killed a villager in Bijapur district of Bastar after suspecting him to be a police informer and left his body abandoned on road.

To mark their presence in the area and create terror among locals, Maoists also left a leaflet threatening that whosoever supports police against them will be sentenced to death by the outfit, police said.

The body was spotted on Tuesday morning at Toyenar road by the local villagers while they were going to their fields and they informed the police. Cops rushed to the spot and retrieved the body along with the leaflet left by national park area committee of the banned outfit of Maoists.

Taking responsibility for the killing, the Maoists advised people to stay away from police and not act as their informers, else they too will be killed in the same way, the leaflet warned.

Police said that the body was identified as tribal Madvi Ramlu, a resident of Dupeli village who was abducted from his house on Sunday by group of armed Maoists. The body was found riddled with bullets. Locals said that Ramlu was brutally beaten in front of villagers who were asked not to go to police until Ramlu returns. They then took him to the forest area.
