Chhattisgarh's Covid tally jumps to 503

RAIPUR: In the last 24 hours, 55 people tested positive for novel coronavirus, including an eight-month-old baby from Bilaspur, taking the total number of infections to 503 cases.


The total includes 388 active cases and one Covid death.

As per Bilaspur chief medical health official Dr Pramod Mahajan, an eight-month-old was in the list of contact tracing of a woman, who is already admitted for treatment in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).



The parents of the baby reported Covid negative.

Of these 55 fresh cases, 19 are from Mahasamund, 16 from Jashpur, five from Korba, three-three each from Raipur and Sarguja, two-two each from Bilaspur, Balod and Raigarh and one- each from Kanker, Durg, Rajnandgaon. These fresh cases are reported of migrants labourers in quarantine centres and some of them are their primary contacts, said state health officials.

However, as per medical bulletin, 11 patients were discharged on Sunday after their two consecutive tests were reported negative. The cured patients are from Korba, Janjgir-Champa, Baloda Bazar, Bemetara and Kanker.

On Sunday, as many as 557 people came by flight to Chhattisgarh, said health officials. As of now, 2,10,926 people are in quarantine centres and many will be completing their 14 days isolation period in coming days.
