Churu man threatens air-cooler maker's employee

Ahmedabad: A man from Churu in Rajasthan has been accused of threatening a Satellite-based man, who is a member of the legal team of a company that manufactures air coolers, over a copyright dispute and other irregularities.

In his FIR with Vastrapur police, Dushyant Pandya, 42, the deputy general manager of the legal department of Symphony, stated that the accused, Sampatsingh Rajpurohit, threatened to kill him on November 7.

Rajpurohit allegedly sold assembled coolers at rates cheaper than the company’s, sold its parts and also took money from the firm for services he never provided when he was appointed service advisor in 2017.

When the company learned of the irregularities, it sent him a notice seeking recovery. The company filed a complaint for violation of copyright against Rajpurohit last year and a complaint was also filed in a magisterial court in March, for misbranding, misappropriation and cheating.

After the complaints, Rajpurohit moved a plea before Vastrapur police, alleging that the company did not pay him his dues, but an FIR was not lodged as the cops did not find substance to his complaint, said a police official.

On November 7, Rajpurohit called Pandya and told him that he could not get his money due to Pandya. “He told me that I had filed false cases against him and he could thus not get the money due to him. He said that he knows the chairman of Symphony, Achal Bakeri, and has the details of Achal Bakeri’s father, Anil Bakeri,” stated Pandya in the FIR.

Pandya further states, “He told me that he knows how to recover money and threatened me with dire consequences. He said that he has connections with bigwigs in Rajasthan. He threatened to kill me whenever I go to Jaipur.”

Inspector M M Jadeja of Vastrapur police said a case of criminal intimidation has been registered against Rajpurohit.
