City faces water cut: AMC Danapith HQ supplied water through tankers

The civic body headquarters in Danapith had to be supplied water through tankers on Tuesday after it faced the effect of a two-day water cut announced due to the leakage in Kotarpur Water Treatment Plant.

Water from Kotarpur Water Treatment Plant is supplied to 75 per cent area of Ahmedabad. However, leakage in the water supply line had led to the announcement of a water cut for two days on Monday.

On day two, two tankers of 20,000 litres were sent to AMC headquarters by the fire department.

While Additional City Engineer Amit Patel and DyMC Saurabh Patel could not be contacted,

Ahmedabad Chief Fire Officer M F Dastoor confirmed the news.

The city experienced a water cut due to repairs on the truck line of Kotarpur water treatment plant, work on linking at new water stations in other areas as well as the repair of leakage in the 1,600-mm diameter pipeline in West Zone’s Akhbarnagar. The work was finished on Tuesday morning so water supply is expected to be restored by tomorrow.

The impact of water cut was observed in several areas of the East and West Zones. All areas except the new western zone were affected by water cuts.
