City gets maiden flight from Hisar carrying CM

HISAR: Haryana got its first civil airport in Hisar on Tuesday with chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurating the air shuttle service. He was accompanied by Hisar MP Brijendra Singh and MLA Kamal Gupta and took the maiden flight (in SpiceJet's seven-seater aircraft) to Chandigarh.


The CM said two flights would take off from Hisar to Chandigarh (at 8am and 4pm) daily.

The return flight timings to Hisar are 9.30am and 5.30pm. One-way fare of Chandigarh-Hisar flight has been fixed at Rs 1,674 per passenger. Khattar said booking of air services would be started soon from the Hisar airport .

He said that it was a historical day in the field of civil aviation not only for Hisar but also for Haryana.

"An 18-seater aircraft will take off soon from Hisar after getting environmental clearance. Flights to Jaipur, Delhi, Dehradun and Jammu will also be started from Hisar and permission for the same has already been granted," the CM said.

Khattar, who inaugurated the flying training organization of SpiceJet, said at least 100 cadet pilots would be trained every year at the institute. "Reservation of 10% of the total seats and 50% rebate in training fee will also be given to students of Haryana," he said.

"Women candidates will also be given priority under 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign and free training will be provided if two daughters of a family from Haryana enroll for the course. SpiceJet will absorb 70% of the pilot trainees taking training at Hisar. Soon other airlines will also start their services from Hisar," Khattar said.

SpiceJet's chief project officer Manjeev Singh said the 18-seater aircraft would fly from Hisar from December.
