Kochi: Krithi 2020, the third edition of Krithi International Book Fair and Knowledge Festival, organized by the department of cooperation and Sahithya Pravarthaka Cooperative Society (SPCS), will be held in Kochi from February 6 to 16 .
Announcing the event, minister for cooperation, devaswom and tourism Kadakampally Surendran said Krithi 2020 will host one of the largest book fairs in India and on its sidelines, a literary and knowledge festival, cultural programmes and a food festival. For this, a total of 75,000 sq ft area will be used including a fully air-conditioned pavilion of 46,000 sq ft area for book fest. Krithi 2020 is expected to have more than 150 publishers from India and abroad. The event is expected to achieve a sales figure of Rs 20 crore.
Under ‘A book for every child’ scheme, Krithi 2020 aims to provide book coupons worth Rs 1.5 crore to students across the state through cooperative institutions. The third edition will also have a separate section for children’s books. In addition to these, Krithi 2020 will hold reading and poetry writing competitions for students and will stage magic shows on all days. For adults, Krithi has already announced short film and photography competition. There will be separate exhibitions of the yesteryear photographs of Kerala towns and a historical exhibition of SPCS, which is on its 75th year now.
Krithi knowledge festival, which is scheduled for February 12 to 16, is expected to be attended by eminent writers and scholars.
