HUBBALLI: Cyclotsava, a cycling event, will be organised by Hubballi Bicycle Club here on January 26 to create a Guinness world record. More than 1,500 cyclists have enrolled their names to become part of the event.

Anand Baid, of HBC said on Friday that they will attempt to make the longest single line of moving bicycles on Kusugal Road on January 26. “We will break Guinness world record set by a team in Bangladesh,” he added.

“We will celebrate our Constitution by forming a line of more than 1,500 Indians of all religions, castes, creeds, economic status, sex, age, and make them follow the guidelines of the Guinness book of world records just like how all of us Indians follow the Constitution,” he said.

On the day of the event, the stretch between Akshay Enclave, Keshwapur till the NH bypass just before Kusugal will be completely closed between 1 pm to 6 am. The necessary police permission and protection has been taken, said Anand.

At least hundred members each from the cycling clubs of Shivamogga, Belagavi, Bellari, Ranebennur, Davanagere , Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kolhapur , Satara and other places are participating in the event.

The mock test ride will be held on January 20.

The registration for the events will remain open till January 17 to accommodate more cyclists. Interested can register their names on www.hbcriders.com.

The entire event is being organized to create awareness about safety of cyclists and to #RespectCyclists, added Baid.
