CM Nitish Kumar launches projects worth Rs 3,226 crore

PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation for various projects worth Rs3,226.50 crore of seven different departments. He also handed over the appointment letters to four of the 49 players selected for recruitment in different departments on the basis of their performances in national and international events.



Congratulating the seven departments for jointly organizing the programme, Nitish said, “I have never had such an experience earlier.”

The CM inaugurated BMP-12 building constructed at the cost of Rs99.86 crore at Bheem Nagar in Supaul. Spread across 70 acre area, the BMP-12 has 29 buildings for administration and storage of arms and ammunition. Nitish also inaugurated social welfare department project, which included 67 buniyaad centres at sub-division level and one old age home at Patna constructed at the cost of Rs160.11 crore. One 3-D theatre at Patna zoo at the cost of Rs11 crore was also inaugurated through remote.

Nitish asked the state welfare department to construct more old age homes so that elderly people do not face any problem. “Everyone has to die. Now such is the situation that parents are left alone and children are staying in foreign countries. They do not have time even for the 13 days’ ritual after their parents’ death,” Nitish rued.

The CM laid the foundation for Bihar state data centre (BSDA) 2.0. It is an information technology department project worth Rs229.17 crore.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is also in charge of IT department, said the BSDA 2.0 was being made while keeping in mind the importance of information technology in the present era. The BSDA 1.0 made in 2015 has been utilized to its maximum capacity. SuMo said it will be G+4 building and all sorts of data, information and application would be stored there. He further said a recovery centre at the expense of Rs30 crore will be made so that in case of any disaster or cyberattack, the data could be recovered.

Meanwhile, Nitish also gave green signal to the construction of two projects of state road construction department, which included state highway 84 and 85. SH-84, known as Ghogha-Panjawara road, will be 43.35km-long. It will pass through various places in Bhagalpur and Banka districts. The SH-85 will cover 29.34km in Bhagalpur and Banka districts.

RCD minister Nand Kishore Yadav said out of the 2,745km SH, 1,220km have been made of two lanes and work on 389km is going on while the DPR for 483km is ready.
