CM visits Tehri village, announces further ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh for kin of deceased, Rs 50,000 for injured

DEHRADUN: CM Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday visited Kansali village of Tehri district, which lost 10 children in a recent accident. Rawat assured the family members that a probe was underway in the matter and strict action would be initiated against those found guilty.


A total of 10 students died and eight others were injured after the pickup vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Lambgaon in Tehri district on August 6.

All the children were residents of Kansali village. The district administration had provided an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Rawat had also announced Rs 1 lakh for the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

While interacting with the affected families, the CM said that some doctors had broken the bond of working in Uttarakhand and after a court decision the state is likely to get 600 more doctors. For the construction of Dobra Chanti bridge,the government has released Rs 88 crore, the CM said.
