Coimbatore: Deputy secretary holds review meeting with district revenue officers and economic offence wing officials

COIMBATORE: Deputy secretary to the state government B Murugesh held a review meeting with the district revenue officers (DROs) and economic offence wing (EOW) police officials of eight districts at the collectorate in the city on Friday.

During the meeting, Murugesh instructed officials to auction the attached properties of accused convicted under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interest of Deposit (TNPID) Act and distribute the sale amount to respective victim-depositors.

DROs and EOW police officials from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Karur, Salem, and Dharmapuri attended the review meeting.

Superintendent of police, EOW, Chennai, Vijayakumar also spoke at the meeting and instructed police officials to sensitize the public on how not to fall prey to Ponzi schemes.

The EOW, Coimbatore unit, investigated the Rs 818 crore ‘Fine Future’ scam and filed the chargesheet before the TNPID court two years ago.

But the trial is yet to begin in the case and the depositors have not got even a single penny from police. The EOW had attached many properties and luxury vehicles belonging to ‘Fine Future’ owners A Senthil Kumar and M Vivek, but the properties are yet to be auctioned.

Likewise, emu scams were also reported from Erode, Namakkal and other districts and most of the cases are pending before the court.

Vijayakumar instructed officials to speed-up the pending cases.
