Confectioner killed in Bhagalpur

BHAGALPUR: A confectioner Sahdev Sah was brutally killed by one Sourabh Sinha alias Bauwa late on Sunday night at his rented house at Tota Shah Lane near Mirjanhat locality under Mojahidpur police station in Bhagalpur district.

Sahdev, a sexagenarian, was a native of Dariapur village under Sajour police station.

The killer was seen assaulting him brutally with an iron rod and stabbing with its pointed end in a CCTV footage.

On getting information, police teams led by DSP (City) Rajvansh Singh rushed to the spot. While investigations are on, police said that Bauwa is the grandson of house owner Nirmala Devi and is absconding after committing the crime. He had been to jail in the past also. Locals also said that Bauwa’s brother Sonu is also a criminal and is languishing in jail in connection with an extortion case.

Bhagalpur SSP Ashish Bharti said that both the sons of the deceased are in Bengaluru and they have been informed about the incident.

“We are investigating the case on the basis of information collected during interrogation of the house owner, her relatives and neighbours. We are also taking the assistance of a dog squad to nab the killer,” the SSP said.
