Cong begins 200km 'Gandhi Darshan Padyatra'

Indore: Congress on Tuesday started 200km ‘Gandhi Darshan Padyatra' from Indore to Bhopal on the occasion of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary .

Ministers Bala Bachchan and Jitu Patwari were among senior politicians to pay tribute to the Iron Lady. “The yatra is being taken out to spread message of communal harmony, integrity of nation and protection of Constitution.

It will pass through Dewas, Sonkatch, Mehatwada, Asta, Amlah and Sehore to reach Bhopal on November 27,” MPCC secretary Rakesh Singh Yadav said.

The yatra of Congress should not be compared with BJP’s ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’, he added.

After garlanding statue of Gandhi, Bachchan said, “She was the first Prime Minister, who sacrificed her life while serving to the nation. She was even titled as ‘Durga’ by senior leaders of opposition. Her contribution in nation building can’t be ignored.”

Paying tribute to the former Prime Minister, the higher education minister said that Congress was following path shown by Indira Gandhi for development of people of all walks of life.
