Congress has martyrs widow flag off its rally in Shimla

SHIMLA: After IAF strike on terror camps at Balakot in Pakistan, the Congress has been Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP of playing politics on martyrs, but on Tuesday the party leaders in Himachal Pradesh had the widow of an ITBP jawan, who was martyred in 2000 during an encounter with terrorists in Srinagar, flag off its rally in Shimla.

This comes after the Election Commission has already issued advisory asking political parties to desist from displaying photographs of defence personnel or photographs of functions involving defence personnel in advertisements, or otherwise as part of their election propaganda or campaigning.

ITBP Jawan Garja Ram of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh was martyred during encounter with terrorists in Srinagar. His wife Sunita Devi flaged off the ‘Jan Chetna Rally’ from the Congress’s office in Shimla.

State Congress president Kuldeep Singh Rathore honoured her by presenting her a cap and a shawl. He said that he respected martyrs not only of Himachal Pradesh but of the entire country. He then went on to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that a file related to defence deal was stolen despite the PM calling himself “chowkidar” of country. He said that Congress would always stand with brave soldiers, martyrs and their families.
