Congress losing out in Karnataka due to Rahul Gandhi's follies: MP

DHARWAD: MP Pralhad Joshi said on Saturday that the simmering discontent within the Congress will benefit the BJP and help it comfortably win 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka. He said that the Congress is losing its ground in Karnataka due to the follies of its national president Rahul Gandhi . The state will soon become “Congress mukt” (free of Congress), Joshi said.

Speaking to reporters, he said that Rahul bypassed his party’s state leaders to hold talks with H D Deve Gowda and ceded eight constituencies to the JD(S) including the one Congress won in 2014.

The Congress ceded some constituencies to the JD(S) where the latter has no support base, he said. Joshi also slammed the JD(S) for fielding Deve Gowda and his two grandsons in three constituencies.

Meanwhile, former MP Vijay Sankeshwar inaugurated the BJP’s election office at Koppadakeri. He said that the performance of his successor Joshi and development works launched in the region with support from the Modi-led government will help the BJP regain the seat with a huge majority.
