Congress ne pahley jawan ka sar katwaya, aur ab vote katwa ban gayi hai Uttar Pradesh mein: PM Modi in Deoria

Deoria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a sharp swipe at the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), terming the Opposition parties as 'incapable' of taking on terrorism.  

While PM Modi evoked the 2013 incident of Pakistani jawans beheading Indian soldier to attack the Congress, he raised the issue of law and order in Uttar Pradesh during the tenure of SP and BSP governments in Uttar Pradesh to take aim at both the parties.

"SP-BSP can't fight terrorism, these people can't even control roadside goons, how will they combat terrorism?," PM Modi asked while addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria.

PM said, "Congress ne pahley jawan ka sar katwaya (Jawan was beheaded during Congress rule), now the party has become 'vote Kata' (Vote Cutter) in Uttar Pradesh." 

After the Balakot air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force in retaliation of Pulwama attack, national security has taken centre stage in the ongoing polls. In most of his rallies, PM Modi has raised the poll pitch on security. 

Several political pundits and experts have stressed that Congress being out of mahagathbandhan in Uttar Pradesh will be harmful for the BSP-SP-RLD alliance as it could lead to division of anti-Modi votes in the state, while the BJP's voter remains firm and intact with the saffron party. 

Earlier in the day, while addressing a rally in UP's Kushinagar PM had blasted the opposition for questioning the Indian Army's operation in Jammu and Kashmir in which two terrorists were killed by the forces. 

“Today terrorists were killed by our Army in Kashmir. Now some people are worried as to why did Modi kill the terrorists when voting is underway? An armed terrorist is attacking, do my jawans go to the Election Commission to seek permission to kill him?” he had said.
