Congress questions land use at Gandhinagar IT, ITeS park

Gandhinagar: In response to allegations made by Congress MLAs during the question hour that the business group allotted land for setting up IT and ITeS SEZ park in Gandhinagar had violated conditions laid down while allotting the land, the state government assured the assembly that the land was being used for its original purpose and there was no breach of condition.

The state government was responding to the question raised by Petlad MLA Niranjan Patel.

Paresh Dhanani, leader of opposition, said the business group has even constructed residential houses. The LOP said 3.77 lakh square metre land was given to the group at Rs 470 per square meter. “The government gave away the land at throwaway price when the existing market rate of the land was over Rs 1,000 crore. The land was given to the group for just Rs 17.70 crore,” he said. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, replying on behalf of revenue minister Kaushik Patel said that the land was given to the business group at the market rate existing in 2006 and the Congress was quoting the current market rate. Chudasama further said that the business group had not violated any condition. tnn
